Uusikaupunki Archipelago
Uusikaupunki, Southwest Finland
Overview
The Uusikaupunki archipelago is one of the most famous pike fishing areas in Finland. Its labyrinthine structure offers endless spots to explore by boat.
Fish Species and Fishing
Pike is the undisputed king of these waters. Casting lures or flies in shallow, reedy bays is the most effective method. Large perch are also common, especially near underwater rocks and points. Sea trout can be caught in the outer archipelago, particularly in the autumn.
Rules and Permits
A paid fisheries management fee is required for lure fishing. Boaters should be mindful of the numerous rocks and shallow areas; using a nautical chart is essential.
