Finnish State Fisheries Management Fee 2026

The Finnish Fisheries Management Fee (kalastonhoitomaksu) is required by Finnish fishing law. It is a personal fee that grants the right to fish with one rod, reel, and lure in most lakes and sea areas across Finland.

Who Needs to Pay the Fee?

  • Anglers aged 18–64: Must pay the fisheries management fee if lure fishing, spinning, fly fishing, or trap fishing.
  • Under 18 years old: Exempt from the fee.
  • Seniors 65 and older: Exempt from the fee.

What Does the Fee Allow You to Do?

  1. Lure Fishing with 1 Rod: On lakes, ponds, and coastal sea waters without needing a separate water owner permit.
  2. Nationwide Access: Valid throughout Finland, except in special rapid areas, migratory fish rivers, and private restricted waters.
