Lake Saimaa is Finland's largest lake and offers incredibly diverse fishing opportunities. From Lappeenranta, it's easy to set off by boat to explore its southern parts.

Trolling is the most popular way to target Saimaa's predatory fish, such as large pike, zander, and landlocked salmon. Jigging yields good results for perch and zander. It's important to remember that the Saimaa arctic char is critically endangered and fully protected.
Rules and Permits
The fisheries management fee is mandatory. Saimaa has large areas with their own local regulations, especially concerning endangered salmonids. Always check the local rules.
