Overview

Lake Päijänne is a vast and diverse lake that spans several regions. The Jyväskylä area is at the northern end of the lake. Päijänne is particularly popular with trollers, but its countless islands, open waters, and bays offer spots for all kinds of anglers.

Fish Species and Fishing

Päijänne is famous for its brown trout and landlocked salmon, which are targeted by trolling in the large open waters. The lake also has an excellent zander population and plenty of large pike and perch.

Rules and Permits

Due to its large size, Lake Päijänne has several different fishing areas and permit practices. A large part of the lake belongs to a unified permit area, which simplifies fishing. However, it is always important to check local rules and restrictions.
